BEST OF PHILLY DELI

112 N. 3rd St., Minneapolis, MN
The best cheesesteak here in the "heartland", not to be confused with a "cheesehead", is at The Best of Philly Deli, 112 N. 3rd Street, Minneapolis, MN. As a transplanted Philadelphian of seven years, this is the best. Nothing comes close around here because of the bread. For some reason they cannot duplicate it here? The Best of Philly Deli brings in the Italian bread from the East coast and it is delicious.

Date: Sun, 8 Feb 1998 20:55:00 -0600 Yes I know it is unbelievable admidst the snow and scandahoovians, but Philadelphian transplants have a "real" cheesesteak shop in town...The bread par baked is imported from PA...so you get the picture...Anyway the owners name is Steve. He is also into micro-brewery and he carries Tasty Cakes, but no Yingling, soft pretzels or scrapel which must be picked up at the "Booth Corner" sale as those of us get back in the area. His Restaurant is called "The Best of Philly Deli" call him at 612-673-9595 Tall him Karl and Jodee tipped you off.

Unfortunately, Steve DeSantis owner of the Best of the Philly Deli closed in spring of 1998 and moved back to the Philadelphia area. I am in total withdrawl and have to rely on poor substitutes on wheat bread.
