DELIGHTS OF OGDEN

Ogden, Utah
Anyway, I now live in the west and have a restaurant in Ogden, Utah named "Delights of Ogden". When I was going to college, I worked in a couple of steak & hoagie shops after school to earn a few bucks and this is how I became intrigued with cooking. Anyway, my menu has a definite Philadelphia accent....I have cheesesteaks and hoagies as the highlight of the menu. Nowhere on the menu is there any mention of a sub, hero, po'boy, or any of the imitations from the rest of the country. In fact, the Salt Lake Tribune did a review on my restaurant and gave us "outstanding" for the cheesesteaks!

PHILADELPHIA SUB SHOP

189 So. State St., Clearfield, Utah, ph# 825-2844
I am an Air Force member and have been for almost 17 years. I was raised in Philly and in fact had at least one cheeseteak a week for..well...18 years of my Philly life. I never even heard of Subway or Blimpie until I left Philly. I have had cheesesteaks all around the country and the world for that fact (except Europe), and the best I've had outside of the Philly area is the Philadelphia Sub Shop in Clearfield, Utah (true cheesesteak affiicianadoes know that the name Phila "SUB" shop vs. HOAGIE shop is borderline blasphemous, but forgive them; they are just that good). They chop the correct meat and add the correct toppings (I m NOT a Cheese-Wiz fan; provolone please) and even the correct grease (fat equals flavor; hey if you want low cal go to Subway...). This place is so good they don't even need to open on Saturday (much to my chagrin). I can't speak for the rest of the state, but if you're ever in the Salt Lake City/Ogden area (heck, if you go to Park City or even Provo make a road trip), GO TO STATE ST IN CLEARFIELD AND GET A SANDWICH!!

The best place in Utah is called the Philadelphia Sub Shop in Clearfield, UT. The owner is from Delaware and his steaks are the best I have had since moving to Utah in 1972. I am originally from Ridley Park, staying with family during the Hoildays in 2004. I found your site on a web search while in PA as I was looking for a steak shop close to Broomall. Visited Leo's in Folcroft twice while I was there, WOW! Awesome.
